Steven Piennar Chooses Tottenham Over Chelsea

Well it seems after a game of back and forth, it’s Tottenham who have finally secured the signing of Everton midfielder Steven Piennar. Everton have agreed a fee in the region of £2.5million for Piennar.

Today Piennar took to his twitter account to announce he had, in fact, signed for Tottenham saying:

“To end speculation I am going to Spurs,” he began.

“I’ve had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart.”

“I can also confirm I’ll be jersey number 40.” He later added.

Spurs previously had an initial bid of £2million rejected for the South African international but persistency led to Everton eventually caving. Chelsea were reportedly in the running for Piennar as well but Piennar chose Tottenham over Chelsea.

Piennar’s contract was due to run out this Summer so David Moyes was looking to cash in on what he had left for last seasons ‘Player Of The Season’ for the Toffee’s.

Living in Dublin so I've had a keen interest in League of Ireland for the last 2-3 years and used to write about it on, focusing mainly on UCD's limited fortunes as well as the Irish national team. I started to merge this interest with gambling two years ago to moderate success so have continued to do so since! View all posts by Dylan O'Neill
