Olympiakos have been hit by a triple whammy after they suffered severly following the wrash aftermath between Olympiakos and fierce rivals Panthinaikos. The penalties come after the top of the table clash turned sour in which Olympiakos prevailed 2-1. Fans evaded the pitch soon after the final whistle and were seen striking some of the Panthinaikos players including former Liverpool player Djibril Cisse. But the fan trouble didn’t stop there. In a video displayed on Youtube, the fans were also seen tearing down goalposts and setting fireballs on the pitch, whilst the players were still on the pitch.
The severity of their punishment was revealed today here’s the price they have to pay:
1. They must play one game behind closed doors.
2. Olympiakos’ captain Vasilis Torosidis has been handed a five-game suspension by the Greek Super league following his rash headbutt on opposing player Sebastian Leto late on in the game.
3. Olympiakos have also received a hefty fine for their troubles, €140,000 to be exact.
4. Olympiakos president Vangelis Marinakis was fined 15,000 euros and must stay away from stadiums for two months following his disrepectful behaviour after the match.
All in all, its quite a heavy price to pay for the Superleague leaders but its nonetheless deserved.
