Poor Cesc Fabregas. Having travelled back to his hometown to take on the Catalan giants for the first time, Fabregas was hoping that it would be a night to remember. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan with Fabregas at fault for the first goal after a cheeky back-heel was picked up by Iniesta who fed Messi which eventually saw Arsenal’s defence crumble and succumb to Barcelona’s superior attacking force.
Arsenal lost the match 3-1 bowing out of the Champions league in the process and Fabregas took to his twitter account to apologise for his uncharacteristic performance saying:
“Great support from the arsenal fans. I take full blame for the result tonight. One of the worst moments of my life. I apologise.”
If twitter didn’t restrict you to 140 characters I’m sure Cesc would have given a tearful apology but rest assured from what I gathered on twitter, most twitterers share sympathy with the Spaniard. He was unfortunate in his back-heel pass which inevitably saw Arsenal lose but to label it ‘one of the worst performances of my life’ – whew, just a wee bit harsh on yourself Cesc.
